Representatives from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, in Greensboro, visited Central Carolina Community College’s Lee County Campus recently to present scholarships to three CCCC graduates. Mozell Weston (left) senior associate director for Admissions, and William Mills (center) scholarship coordinator, presented $1,000 scholarship certificates to Steven George (second from left), and Ruby Thacker (second from right), both of Sanford. Central Carolina C.C. President Matt Garrett (right) was on hand to congratulate the recipients. George graduated from Central Carolina in May with a Transfer Readiness diploma. Thacker earned an associate degree in Criminal Justice in 2000 and a Practical Nursing diploma in 2005. Renae Whitaker (not pictured), of Yadkinville, was also awarded one of the scholarships. She received an associate degree in Veterinary Medical Technology in 2006. The awards are part of a new NC A&T program to provide some scholarships for students from the community colleges that feed the largest numbers of students into the university.
