FAYETTEVILLE -- Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) lead pottery and sculpture instructor Dan Rhode spends most of his time teaching students how to make different kinds of art. Yet, when he gets a chance, he can create some rather interesting art as well.
One piece Rhode recently crafted was selected for the 33rd Annual Competition for North Carolina artists at the Fayetteville Museum of Art. His piece, "Bottle," will appear with the works of about 50 other artists from around the state. The show, which opened March 13, will run through May 1.
Rhode is the lead instructor for the two-year associate's degree curriculum in pottery, clay, and metal sculpture at CCCC. He also oversees the non-degree pottery and sculpture classes. In addition to pottery, CCCC offers classes in sculptural welding, bronze and iron casting, blacksmithing, marketing for artists, glaze formulation, kiln building and more at its facilities in Siler City.
