CCCC receives NCCCS High-Cost Healthcare Workforce funds

SANFORD, N.C. - Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) has received High-Cost Healthcare Workforce Start-Up and Expansion funds from the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).

The college received $495,770 for the CCCC Physical Therapist Assistant Program.

"This generous funding will enhance our educational offerings and empower our students to thrive in the vital field of healthcare. This funding will also support salaries for our dedicated faculty and staff, enabling us to create an exceptional learning environment for our students," said Tiffany Needham, CCCC Physical Therapist Assistant Department Chair. "With this investment, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of outstanding clinicians who will make a positive impact in our community. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in making this possible. Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient healthcare workforce for our community!"

The college received $399,991 for the expansion of the Associate Degree Nursing program into Chatham County.

"The college is very excited to be able to offer more seats in the Associate Degree Nursing program to graduate more registered nurses into our community and meet the needs of the healthcare facilities in our service area," said Dr. Denise Martin, CCCC Dean of Health Sciences and Professional Services. "This grant will be used to create a state-of-the-art nursing lab at the Chatham Health Sciences Center in Pittsboro to prepare new nurses and other healthcare professionals for their careers."

The college received $358,141 for the Nurse Aide program.

"These funds will allow Continuing Education Medical Programs to expand class sizes, purchase new equipment, and also hire additional instructors. The expansion will focus on programming in Lee County, but will greatly impact the entire service area," said Felicia Crittenden, CCCC Associate Vice President, Workforce Development & Continuing Education. "Nursing Assistants continue to be in demand with projections indicating the demand will outweigh the supply over the next 10 years. The additional funding for Central Carolina Community College will ensure continual support for our community and the regional workforce demands."
