SANFORD, N.C. - Central Carolina Community College has announced its athletic award recipients for the 2023-2024 school year.

Here is a list of all award winners:

Men's Basketball - Dontavious Pettaway of Greenville, N.C. (Defensive Player of the Year), Patrick Malott of Winston-Salem, N.C. (Sophomore of the Year), Nathan Willis of Wendell, N.C. (Cougar of the Year), Jesse Mitchell of New Hill, N.C. (Most Valuable Player).

Women's Basketball - Janie Ragsdale of Tift, Ga. (Defensive Player of the Year), Brookelyn Hall of Floyd County, Va. (Coaches Award), Trinity Hill of Tift, Ga. (Sportsmanship Award), Zoey McMickens of Lithonia, Ga. (Most Valuable Player)

Men's Cross Country - Connor Johnson of Cary, N.C. (Most Improved), Kevin Macias of Lillington, N.C. (Sportsmanship), Kyle Graves of Lillington, N.C. (Most Valuable Player).

Women's Cross Country - Avery Bledgen of Lillington, N.C. (Most Courageous).

Volleyball - Olivia Jones of Bear Creek, N.C. (Sportsmanship), Kassidy Gross of Sanford, N.C. (Defensive Player of the Year), Johnna Lawrence of Sanford, N.C. (Offensive Player of the Year), Kammi Naude of Elizabethtown, N.C. (Most Valuable Player).

National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region Academic Awards:

Men's Basketball: Kendrell Brooks (Mebane, N.C.), Keon Lassiter (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jesse Mitchell (New Hill, N.C.), Dontavious Pettaway (Greenville, N.C.), Thomas Stafford (Raeford, N.C.), Nathan Willis (Wendell, N.C.).

Women's Basketball: Brookelyn Hall (Floyd County, Va.), Trinity Hill (Tift, Ga.), Zoey McMickens (Lithonia, Ga.).

Men & Women's Cross Country: Kyle Graves (Lillington, N.C.), Kevin Macias (Lillington, N.C.).

Women's Cross Country: Avery Blegen (Lillington, N.C.).

Women's Volleyball: Karli Bullard (Sanford, N.C.), Kailey Edwards (Sanford, N.C.), Kassidy Gross (Sanford, N.C.), Zoey Hodges (Sanford, N.C.), Olivia Jones (Bear Creek, N.C.), Johnna Lawrence (Sanford, N.C.), Carley Marcum (Sanford, N.C.), Kammie Naude (Elizabethtown, N.C.), Ashlee Rains (Silk Hope, N.C.), Savanna Rosser (Sanford, N.C.).

Five individuals were recognized by CCCC Athletic Director Bradley McDougald for their dedication to Cougar Athletics - Donna Boykin, Dylan Hargis, Keon Jones, Kawonna Simmons, and Robin Taylor.
