CCCC cross country teams finish strong in regionals

SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College cross country teams -- the women's team finished first and the men's team finished second in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region 10 Division III meet in Spartanburg, S.C., on Oct. 29.

This is the second consecutive regional championship for the CCCC women's team. The CCCC men's team now has a first-place and second-place finish in back-to-back seasons. Coach Richard Briggs is in his fourth season as CCCC cross country coach.

Lillian Bennett (Sanford, NC) finished second in the women's event to lead the CCCC team. Other members of the CCCC women's team - and their finishes -- were 5. Kate Perez (Dunn, NC), 12. Emilie Obregon (Dunn, NC), 17. Avery Blegen (Lillington, NC), and 20. Charmaine Robison (Lumberton, NC).

Kyle Howarth (Mebane, NC) finished fourth in the men's event to lead the CCCC team. Other members of the CCCC men's team were 21. Benjamin Eck (Sanford, NC), 23. Juan Martinez (Fuquay-Varina, NC), 24. Isaac Leon-Mendoza (Angier, NC), and 29. Colton Taylor (Broadway, NC).
