CCCC announces SECU Foundation Bridge to Career Scholarship recipients

SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) hosted a Scholarship Award Ceremony on Sept. 20 for recipients of the State Employees' Credit Union (SECU) Foundation Bridge to Career Scholarship. The event was held at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center.

The State Employees Credit Union Foundation established the SECU Bridge to Career Program to help remove financial barriers for students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education Division of their local community college that lead to sustainable wage careers within their local communities.

Opening remarks were by Felicia Crittenden, CCCC Dean of Workforce Development & Continuing Education Operations. Harriet Norris of the State Employees Credit Union spoke about The Impact of the SECU Scholarship.

Merina Holmes, Nurse Aide student, and Deidrea West, Biotechnology student, spoke of The Student Experience. The Employer Experience was presented by Patricia Miller, Franchise Owner of Wisdom Senior Care, Pittsboro.

Closing remarks were by CCCC President Dr. Lisa M. Chapman.
