SANFORD - The Sandhills Community College A golf team shot a two-day total of 611 to win the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Cougar Classic tournament played Sept. 27-28 at the Quail Ridge Golf Club in Sanford.
Sandhills was led by Alex Martin, who shot a 69-79-148 to win medalist honors. Teammate Nolan John shot a 78-74-152 to finish as the second-place individual.
The Sandhills B team finished second with a 620 total, followed by Davidson-Davie Community College (685), Central Carolina Community College (736), and Patrick & Henry Community College.
Leading the CCCC team were, with their respective high schools and hometowns listed in parentheses, Noah Ritch (Providence Grove H.S., Climax), Miller Phillips (Jordan-Matthews H.S., Siler City). Preston Cox (Chatham Central H.S., Bear Creek), and Henry Sapienza (Northwood H.S., Chapel Hill).
