SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College cross country program is looking forward to the 2021 season - after the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Richard Briggs, a former assistant coach at Fayetteville State University, serves as the CCCC cross country coach.
"I am very excited about this season. We have a group that loves to run. As long as we are passionate about what we do, everything will fall into place," said Coach Briggs.
Members of the CCCC men's cross country team, with high school and hometowns listed, are: Kevin Cole (Grace Christian School, Sanford), Colby Day (Cape Hatteras Secondary School, Frisco), Eddy Dominguez (Jordan-Matthews H.S., Siler City), Kyle Howarth (Woods Charter School, Mebane), Britt Lehman (Jordan-Matthews H.S., Siler City), and Gabriel Lenz (Lee Christian School, Sanford).
Members of the CCCC women's cross country team, with high school and hometowns listed, are: Angelika Adriano (Pinecrest H.S., Aberdeen), Karlee Becker (Lumberton H.S., Lumberton), Bersai Perez (Lee County H.S., Sanford), Charmaine Robison (Lumberton H.S., Lumberton), and Kimberly Vasquez (Harnett Central H.S., Lillington).
"It's exciting to know with hard work and dedication that we have a big season ahead of us," said Coach Briggs.

Sept. 4 - at Catawba College Fleet Feet Invitational; Sept. 11 - at Methodist University Cross Country Classic; Oct. 2 - at Hagan Stone XC Classic; Oct. 16 -at Patriots Invitational; Oct. 30 - at National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region X Championship; Nov. 13- at NJCAA Division 3 National Championship.
