SANFORD - The Central Carolina Manufacturing Institute is accepting registrations for the upcoming eight-week Certified Production Technician course. This program is free for students - no registration fees or certification testing fees.

This program is provided by Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), in partnership with A.D. Tubi USA, Boon Edam, Edelbrock Group, Pentair, and Bharat Forge/Kalyani -- among others.

"The Central Carolina Manufacturing Institute is a new initiative designed to support local employers with developing their talent pipelines," said Felicia R. Crittenden, CCCC Associate Dean, Workforce Development & Continuing Education. "The goal of the institute is to train and/or up-skill employees interested in becoming Certified Production Technicians working in a high-demand advanced manufacturing environment."

Students will learn skills in safety, quality assurance, manufacturing processes and maintenance awareness needed to enter into the many manufacturing opportunities available in our communities.

The course will be held Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., April 5-May 28, at the Howard-James Industry Training Center, 5825 Clyde Rhyne Drive, Sanford, N.C. 27330.

Upon completion, students will be able to interview with an opportunity for full-time jobs with local manufacturers.

"We are very excited to be partnering with CCCC and other companies in our community on this certification program," said Patrick Nora, Managing Director, Boon Edam Manufacturing USA. "There are wide-ranging opportunities available each year within our organization that are great starting points for potential long and successful career paths. We believe this Certified Production Technician program will identify and prepare the right candidates whom we want to join our team and who are ripe for us to develop into the future."

Craig Sullivan, President of A.D. Tubi USA Inc., said, "A.D. Tubi is excited to participate in the launch of the Central Carolina Manufacturing Institute. In partnership with area employers, county EDCs and Central Carolina Community College, we all will work to help our communities be ready for the growing number of jobs in manufacturing. This project is essential for both individuals and area employers to support the rapid growth in the manufacturing sector driven by our state of North Carolina."
