SANFORD - Nine athletes - all freshmen - comprise the 2021 edition of the Central Carolina Community College women's basketball team.
"My general thought is that we are going to be a pretty good team this year. We have to continue to get better throughout the season," said Marcel Webster, CCCC women's basketball coach.
Members of the team, with their respective high schools and hometowns, are: Tesha Brewer (Forest Hills H.S., Wingate), Shykiera Brown (South Florence H.S., Florence, SC), Elizabeth Eagle (East Rowan H.S., Salisbury), Jaliyah Howard (Brunswick H.S., Brunswick, GA), Zeriyah McKnight (Rocky Mount H.S., Rocky Mount), Kayle Mejia (Lee County H.S., Sanford), Kaiyan Padilla (Northglenn H.S., Denver, CO), Majesti Richardson (Holly Springs H.S., Durham), and D'Naesha Saxon (South Aiken H.S., Aiken, SC).
"Our team strengths are that we have young ladies who know how to play the game the right way. We have a lot of shooters who can score," said Coach Webster. "I am excited by the enthusiasm of our players wanting to get better as individuals and embracing the team concept."
