SANFORD - Jackson Reid, a two-year player for the Central Carolina Community College men's basketball team, has committed to Mars Hill University to continue his collegiate basketball career. He scored 816 points in two seasons with the CCCC Cougars, averaging 18.1 points per game in 45 games.

Reid, who came to CCCC from Panther Creek High School in Wake County, was named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region X Player of the Year for the 2018-2019 season. He also was named to the All-Region X Team and All-Region X Freshman Team. He averaged 15.9 points per game.

During the 2019-2020 season, he was named to the All-Region X Team as he averaged 22.1 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game. Reid, who graduated from CCCC with an Associate in Arts degree, only played in 16 games during his sophomore season due to an injury in January as he was unable to play the remainder of the season.

"Jackson Reid has successfully completed his goals while here at CCCC," said CCCC Men's Basketball Coach Brad McDougald. "We had a talk before he started his first semester as a freshman, and we discussed what goals I had for him and what he wanted to get out of this experience. He completed everything he intended for himself, as well as the goals for him I put into place."

"I am very proud of the young man he became while here, and the amazing things he personally did for the basketball program. He has very supportive parents and background pushing him each and every day. I couldn't be happier for Jackson and I wish him all the success possible."
