SANFORD - Starting in Fall 2019, CCCC is excited to offer a new Associate in Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Technology (ACHR) in Lee County at the Howard-James Center for Industry Training.
This area of study prepares students to design, install, and service heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment found in residential and light commercial settings. The program combines hands-on training with classroom instruction that will provide the knowledge and skills students need to succeed in the growing field of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
"Here at Central Carolina Community College, we are excited to offer a degree program of Associate in Applied Science in Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Technology. With over 100-plus HVAC repair and installation businesses within a 50-mile radius, there is a great need for trained HVAC service technicians," said David Myers, CCCC Lead Instructor for the program. "With our new program, we have planned both knowledge and hands-on learning so students will be able to gain employment in this growing field. Students will be able to gain various certifications such as EPA 608 and others that will be an asset to find employment after graduation."
Myers noted that graduates of the program can expect to earn upwards of $40,000 to start with opportunities of growth in this career path.
