CCCC honors athletes

SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College athletes and their accomplishments were feted at a banquet held Thursday, April 25, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center in Sanford.

It was announced at the banquet that Jackson Reid, who was National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region X Player of the Year and Region X Freshman of the Year, was named to the NJCAA Division III Third-Team All-America team.

Here is a list of all award winners:

Golf - Lucas Cannady, MVP; Derrick Jeffries, Cougar Award.

Cross Country - Britt Lehman, MVP; Brent Holder, Coaches Award; Alicia Walker, Most Improved.

Men's Basketball - Jackson Reid, Most Outstanding Player; Rodney Alston, Most Improved/Future Star; Demetrius Everett and Ja'hari Guthrie, Coaches Award; Trey North, Cougar Award; Chris George, Most Outstanding Sophomore. Isaac Yarborough, manager for two years, received an award for his service and dedication to the basketball program.

Volleyball - Abigail Sean, MVP; Khalicia Lee, Cougar Award.

Coach of the Year - Brad McDougald.

All Cougar Award (3.0 or higher GPA and participated in 75% of competitions): Lucas Cannady, Derrick Jeffries, Demetrius Everett, Chris George, Seth Hoyle, Carrie Johnson, Trey North, Jackson Reid, Chiera Squalls, Alicia Walker, Matthew Wright.

All Academic Award (3.7 or higher GPA): Demetrius Everett, Seth Hoyle, Matthew Wright.
