SANFORD - Justin Pedley has been chosen as Central Carolina Community College's selection for "The Great Within the 58" academic excellence award sponsored by the North Carolina Community College System.
Pedley, of Sanford, is studying Veterinary Medical Technology at CCCC.
"After graduating high school in 2011, I was not sure where I would end up in the career field. Growing up as a young adult, I have been fortunate to have many experiences ranging from engineering, culinary arts, and veterinary medicine. I enrolled at CCCC in 2016 and was accepted into the Veterinary Medical Technology program in 2017," said Pedley.
"Since enrolling, I have been able to work full-time while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. Not only have I been able to learn a lot about the field of veterinary medicine, I have also learned a lot about myself and the extensive veterinary community," said Pedley. "CCCC and the VMT program has granted me opportunities like visiting dog shows, judging high school FFA competitions, attending the North Carolina Association of Veterinary Technicians (NCAVT) annual conference at N.C. State University, as well as becoming a Kennel Assistant for the CCCC Cougar Pets Colony Animals."
Pedley adds that attending CCCC has allowed him to flourish and chase after his dreams.
