CCCC graduates 12 from BLET program

SANFORD - Twelve Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training cadets graduated from the spring day class during a May 21 graduation ceremony.

Graduates were John Beach of Sanford, Jonathan Buie of Bear Creek, Evan Cannaday of Huntersville, Jonathan Cox of Coats, Emily Davies of Cary, Kendra Hepner of Sanford, Jesse Moore of Sanford, Rachel Mumma of Apex, David Nixon of Goldsboro, Devin Smith of Pittsboro, Samantha Spears of Pinebluff, and Alan Zoller of Broadway.

Several of the graduates were recognized for outstanding achievement during their training. They were: Most Improved Physical Fitness - Jonathan Buie; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Chase/ Apprehension - Evan Cannaday; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Rescue - Evan Cannaday, Jonathan Cox; Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award - David Nixon; Highest Course Grade Point Average - Samantha Spears; and Highest State Exam - Jonathan Cox.

Benson D. Wise of the City of Sanford Police Department delivered the graduation remarks. Class Response was by Emily Davies, Class Leader. Welcome was by Drew Goodson, CCCC Dean of Career and Technical Education.

Robert Powell, CCCC Director of Basic Law Enforcement Training, awarded the graduation certificates.

Sponsoring agencies for the BLET class were the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, Harnett County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Moore County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina State Parks and Recreation, and Topsail Beach Police Department.
