CCCC EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH!

Employee of the Month: Amy Gustavson

Employee of the Month

Amy does an exceptional job in her two roles at the college. While she not only provides quality service in Institutional Research, she has excelled in her role as QEP Coordinator. She has organized data, communicated exceptionally with all parts of the QEP leadership, and has gone above and beyond in producing regular QEP newsletters and trainings for new employees. She also recently organized and delivered a presentation at SACSCOC that was very well-received. She cares deeply about the success of our college and students, so much so that she voluntarily took on the role of an academic advisor as well.

Amy is a dedicated employee that brings her positive energy everywhere she goes. Amy is always willing to take on new initiatives, help others with ongoing initiatives or use her research skills to assist in finding new solutions. Amy’s hard work and dedication helped lead the college to a clean reaffirmation report. Her organizational skills, positive working relationships and research abilities were integral in the reaffirmation process, including developing the QEP. Amy has been a part of the QEP since the original core team and is now helping to lead the effort by splitting her time with IER and QEP as the Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research & QEP. Her organization has helped move the QEP forward by tracking progress, motivating the various action teams and assisting in activities as they arise. She ensures that the appropriate due dates are met with kind reminders and always offers to assist others in completing their tasks. Amy’s kindness and commitment to her work makes her an outstanding employee at the College.

Amy Gustavson

Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Research & QEP

How long have you worked for CCCC?
I've worked for CCCC for 6.5 years. Two years in the library and 4.5 years in Institutional Effectiveness & Research.

What brought you to CCCC?
A very good friend of mine who works at Pitt Community College used to talk extensively about her love of community colleges, her students, and colleagues. When we moved back to the Triangle in 2012, I knew that I really wanted to work at a community college. I did a lot of research on CCCC before I applied to work in the library. I appreciated the college's student-centered and innovative approach. The new logo was also very snazzy!

Describe what you do for CCCC.
My job is divided into two parts, Institutional Effectiveness and QEP. For Institutional Effectiveness & Research, I work on outcomes and assessment, regional accreditation, substantive change, strategic planning, surveys, and focus groups. For the QEP portion, I work on coordinating My Academic Pathway with an amazing team of folks! I'm also an academic advisor for Associate of Arts students and teach ACA 122.

Where did you grow up?
Tryon, North Carolina - It's a small town in the foothills of western North Carolina.

Educational credentials?
I have a Master's in Library Science.

Where do you live now?
Still, Cary.

Tell us about your family!
I'm one of four kids. Most of my family lives in western North Carolina. My sister, who is a veteran, lives in Illinois with her family. I've been married to my husband for close to 15 years. We have an energetic son who's in 2nd grade.

What are some of your hobbies or other interest outside of CCCC?
I love to travel, hike, and play the piano and flute. I hope to visit all 50 states one day! I'm currently up to 22 states.

What superhero power would you most like to have?
I'd love the power to teleport so that I could get places fast!

Which actor would portray you in a movie about your life?
Tina Fey.

What is your favorite meal?
Mediterranean Food!

Anything else you'd like to share with the CCCC family?
It's wonderful to be a part of the CCCC family. Thank you to everyone I've worked with in the past 6.5 years. You're all outstanding colleagues who care about our students.

Emilio

My name is Emilio. I am a 2-year-old male who is very loving! You can typically find me relaxing by the window. One of my favorite things to do is to let everyone know that I love them by rubbing up against their legs! When I do that, I get LOTS of pets. I am a calm boy, but can be playful, too! I cannot wait to find my furever home! Emilio is available for adoption!

Meet Saffron

Cougar Pets

Saffron

My name is Saffron. I am a 6-month-old female who would love to be your new best friend! I am a very sweet girl that loves to be close to people. Snuggling and being held are my favorite! I enjoy playing with other dogs and sunbathing. I cannot wait to find my furever home! Saffron is currently available for adoption!

All adoptable dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines. They have had regular dental cleanings, blood work, and physical exams. We pride ourselves on the care that our cats and dogs receive during their stay. Contact us at www.cougarpets.org for more information on our colony dogs and available cats.
