Congratulations March Employee of the Month: Lennie Stephenson
Lennie Stephenson is the Director of Medical Programs for Continuing Education. Serving three counties, she teaches both online and seated classes. Lennie serves as the conference Chairman for NCCCAEA where she has been an active member for several years and oversees the Continuing Education Medical Programs graduation twice a year. She has completely revised our Nurse Aide I program in accordance with North Carolina state guidelines, aided in strengthening our Nurse Aide II program, implemented multiple hybrids and seated courses as well as expanded our successful Phlebotomy program.
Under her direction and leadership our medical programs have a stronger pool of clinical sites for students to train. She has researched, planned and implemented new classes to aid our community in the workforce. She constantly looks for ways to improve our educational offerings and advocates for not only the students, but her employees as well.

- Q. How long have you worked for CCCC?
- A. Since July 1, 2005.
- Q. What brought you to CCCC?
- A. I was teaching a night Nurse Aide I class as a part-time job and I thought it was the best part-time job I had ever done. When the position came open for a Medical Program Coordinator in Harnett County I applied for the job.
- Q. Describe what you do for the College.
- A. As Director of Continuing Education Medical Programs it is my job to coordinate all of the medical program classes and medical program initiatives for Chatham, Harnett, and Lee County. At present we are working on a new Health Sciences building in Lee County on the main campus that will eventually house all of our Lee County medical program offerings. Another big initiative for our department is instituting the Career and College Promise Program for high school students in Lee and Chatham counties this fall. Our department will be administering the Nurse Aide I program to high school students throughout our service area twice a year in the Spring and in the Fall. High school students earn college credit for attending this class through the Career and College Promise Program. My department also develops new medical program offerings that follow healthcare job trends and needs, to assure that our students have access to classes that will help them get a job in healthcare in a short amount of time.

- A. Watertown, New York
- Q. Where did you grow up?
- A. I grew up in Upstate New York. At 16 my family moved to Clermont, Florida. I graduated from high school and went to nursing school in Florida. I moved to North Carolina in 1986 and I love living in this state.
- Q. Educational credentials?
- A. Registered Nurse, Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Healthcare Management
- Q. Where do you live now?
- A. Benson, NC
- Q. Do you have children/grandchildren?
- A. I have one daughter and three grandchildren.
- Q. What are some of your hobbies or other interest outside of CCCC?
- A. I like to read all different genres of books, crochet and needlework and wood crafts. I love power tools!
- Q. Anything else you'd like to share with the CCCC family?
- A. I feel very privileged to work with wonderful people every day. The best part time job I ever had has now turned into the best full time job I ever had.

Dr. Brian Merritt, CCCC Vice President of Student Learning, and Dr. Pamela Senegal, CCCC Vice President of Economic & Community Development, attended an educators outreach event at Fort Bragg on March 11 to make additional connections on behalf of the college, the college's veterans' TRIO program, and the population of veterans, active duty, and their families that the college serves.

STEM Lab Now Open
We are pleased to announce that our new STEM LAB is now open in the AAC:
- Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
- Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The STEM lab accepts students regardless of whether they have a referral or appointment. Please feel free to share this great news with your students.

Introducing FAFSA Friday!
The Office of Financial Aid has organized a new initiative - FAFSA Friday. At select times, on designated Fridays, Financial Aid staff members will be available to assist students and/or their parent(s) completing and submitting the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
FAFSA Fridays begin March 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each student who receives assistance completing the FAFSA in the Office of Financial Aid during these weeks, not just on Fridays, will have the opportunity to enter his or her name in a drawing for a door prize.
This initiative is designed to raise awareness of the importance of completing the FAFSA as early as possible so students are considered for as much aid as possible. We are hopeful this will be an annual event at Central Carolina Community College.
Creating an environment of cooperation and solidarity throughout the community college is not only vital to the success of the Office of Financial Aid, but to the college in its entirety. We invite you to stop by to see what FAFSA Friday is all about!

Employee of the Month Program
Please join me as we continue recognizing our full-time faculty and staff for their exceptional contributions and customer service. The purpose of this award is to:
- Promote positive employee-to-employee and employee-to-student interactions on campus in order to further a learning first culture

Summon Search Is Here!
Summon is now available and replaces our former Integrated Search. Students, faculty, and staff can now search all our online resources in a single step, including millions of articles, books, and videos. Articles from search results can also be saved into a Flow account (see below) to better manage research resources. Access Summon on the library web page now at http://www.cccc.edu/library.
ProQuest Flow
ProQuest Flow is a new research management tool that allows students to download full-text and PDF articles from databases, along with the bibliographic information, and save them to a cloud storage account. They can then organize their resources according to their various assignments. Flow also allows for note-taking and collaboration on group projects. A variety of citation formats are available with accurate, automatic formatting. Films on Demand Has Grown
Films on Demand now has over 21,000 videos covering a wider range of discipline areas that ever before. Subject areas include: arts and humanities; business and economics; social sciences; health and medicine; science and technology; technical and trade education; historical speeches and newsreels; and many more! Faculty can incorporate these into online classes or show in regular seated classes. Access Films on Demand now.
New Database Spotlight: Axis 360 eBooks
Axis 360 is a collection of popular fiction and non-fiction eBook and eAudio Book titles that can be downloaded to your mobile device or PC using the free axisReader app. Books are also available for the Blio app, which is ADA compliant. More titles will be added to this collection in the future, and we welcome your suggestions for purchase. For first time access to the collection, use your library card number (on the back of your CCCC ID card) for the username, and 1234 for the PIN. After you login, you can then register your account and select a permanent PIN. Connect to Axis 360 now.

New Study Table Arrangements
The library is experimenting with new arrangements for our study table seating to better meet student study space needs. We would like feedback on the various setups we will use over the next few weeks. We appreciate your and your students' feedback. Stop by to test it out, and please encourage your students to do the same.

Bereavements
Joyner Taylor, retired faculty member with CCCC at HCI, died Tuesday, February 10. A memorial service was held on February 14 at Central Baptist Church in Dunn. Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 6050 Plain View Highway, Dunn NC 28334.
JoAnne Walshaw, mother of Jessica Walshaw (Library Assistant at the Lee Library), passed away March 11 at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, at St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford at 10 a.m. Online condolences may be made at www.bolesfuneralhome.com.
