WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND CCCC
Who's doing all that barking?
Who's doing all that barking? It's not who you think, it's the cheers and roars coming from CCCC and the Economic and Community Development leadership team. In partnership with the Harnett Animal Welfare Coalition (HAWC), we held a Pet Food Drive to help feed our furry friends, yes our cats and dogs. It was quite the tail-wagging event! All in all, it was a great success, and due to the gracious donations, we were able to provide 460 pounds of dog and cat food to HAWC. The food donations will help families that have fallen upon hard times feed their beloved family pets, and for those that are awaiting a new home.
Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi CCCC Member!
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines recently initiated doctoral student Marcie Dishman at Texas Tech University. Membership is by invitation and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Congratulations, Marcie!

Cougar Profile
Cindy Page
Administrative Specialist/Harnett County Campus
- Q. How long have you worked for CCCC?
- A. I have worked at the Harnett main campus for a little over 18 years.
- Q. What brought you to CCCC?
- A. I worked in retail for several years lifting heavy cases of oil and antifreeze which caused damage to the cartilage in my knees. My doctor recommended that I train for a more sedentary job and sent me to vocational rehabilitation.
After some testing it was determined that I would do well in an office setting. I enrolled in general office classes at the Harnett main campus. I enjoyed my classes so much that I changed my major and received my Associate Degree in Applied Science/Office Administration. While attending classes I worked in the business office as a work study student for a little over a year. Upon my graduation I was offered a full-time position in the business office at the Harnett main campus.
- Q. Describe what you do for the College.
- A. I work in the Business office at the Harnett main campus. My primary duties are: operating the switchboard, directing students and visitors to the correct departments, overseeing the petty cash funds for all departments, issuing keys, ordering supplies, keying applications, collecting monies, reserving rooms for Curriculum, Continuing Education, Career and College Readiness, Human Resources Development, English as a Second Language, special events, and general community use, coding bills to be sent to Lee main campus, providing secretarial services for the Provost, faculty, and other duties as assigned.
- Q. Where were you born?
- A. Camden, South Carolina
- Q. Where did you grow up?
- A. Augusta, Georgia and Newport, North Carolina
- Q. Educational credentials?
- A. Associate in Applied Science Degree in Office Administration
- Q. Where do you live now?
- A. I live on the outskirts of Lillington, near Mamers.
- Q. Marital status?
- A. I have been married to my husband Kevin for 29 years.
- Q. Do you have children/grandchildren?
- A. I have two daughters. Bri is 24 and works for the Sheriff's Office in Lillington as a 911 dispatcher. Leigh is 22 and works at the Sports Zone in Lillington. No grandchildren yet but Bri was recently married and our own Tim Eyring (admissions counselor at the Harnett campus) performed the ceremony.
- Q. What are some of your hobbies or other interest outside of CCCC?
- A. I love to read, draw and paint. My favorite mediums are pen and ink, pastels, colored pencils, and acrylic paints. I also make jewelry, flower wreaths, and do some quilling.
- Q. Anything else you'd like to share with the CCCC family?
- A. My entire family has attended Central Carolina at one time or another. I still take classes when I can. I am working toward an Associate Degree in Fine Arts and one in Medical Office. My husband Kevin attended classes in the automotive program which has helped him keep our vehicle and now our daughters' vehicles up and running. My oldest daughter, Bri, obtained her Adult High School diploma from Central Carolina and then graduated from the Cosmetology and Esthetics programs. Attending Central Carolina Community College helped give her the confidence she needed in obtaining her current job. My youngest daughter, Leigh, attended classes in the Laser and Photonics program. Although she had to drop out due to health issues she does plan to finish the program and hopefully transfer to North Carolina State University to pursue a degree in Engineering. My new son-in-law, Austin, received his GED, through Central Carolina Community College, trained to be an EMT and now works as a full time EMT/Fireman for the Boone Trail Fire Department. I believe that education is very important and everyone deserves the opportunity to gain the skills they need to succeed. Central Carolina Community College fills that need in our communities. It's wonderful to be a part of that.
