Sustainability Updates
Sustainability in the Classroom
As we start the new semester it is time to remind our students to recycle their paper and drink containers. Most areas of the campus have these resources but a reminder from faculty will go a long way to conserve resources.
Also, if you are interested in adding some complementary sustainability topics to your courses check out these resources on the CCCC intranet: http://www.cccc.edu/intranet/pages/sustainabilityresourcelisting.php
In preparing for new classes this semester, I have found the following resources to have compelling course content.
- How do different nations stack up? Great math and statistical visuals http://carbonfootprintofnations.com - Great visual data sets.
- Human Health Impacts & Adaptation- Climate Change and Public Health Issues http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/impacts-adaptation/health.html#adapt
- The Smart Grid is coming! What are the cutting edge technologies for distributed energy?http://www.smartgridnews.com/artman/publish/Technologies/
Please be sure to share other great resources with me when you use them! Have a Great Green semester! Stay tuned for the next Green Office Challenge and student electronics recycling campaign!
