WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND CCCC
AEOP Silent Auction Results
The CCCCAEOP would like to thank all participants for their contributions and participation in the Silent Auction last week. Thanks to your help we were able to raise over $2,000 for scholarships for our students. We would not be able to accomplish this goal without the wonderful donated items and participation from all CCCC employees.
Thank you again for supporting CCCCAEOP in our efforts to better support our students.

PERSONNEL NOTES
Cougar Profile
Cindy Casler
Director, Workforce Development, WIA
Cindy Casler is a woman of action. She was hired by CCCC on October 30 as the Workforce Development Director for the college and the Workforce Investment Act Administrator for Chatham, Harnett, Lee, and Sampson counties. CCCC is the first North Carolina community college to serve as the administrative entity for WIA funds. By November 2 she was moving into a rented house in Sanford, setting up a makeshift office in the W.B. Wicker Center, rolling up her sleeves, and going to work. On the day of this interview, December 7th, Cindy was already deeply immersed in helping to find solutions to the double-digit unemployment in the college's service area.
Cindy brings formidable experience to her new job: She comes to the college from Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, N.Y. where she served as Workforce Development Education & Training Coordinator. Prior to that, she spent 18 years serving on the Workforce Investment Board in New York State.
"I have a passion for workforce development," she said. She went on to describe the complex network of state and federal resources that are the foundation of CCCC's program and described what her job is:
Nurturing and sustaining the WIA system so that all of the institutions and agencies involved work collaboratively to bring each resident to the place they need to be to find work paying a livable wage. She described a system of case management that makes the needs of the individual its focus and the broad range of services available to everyone who participates in the program.
Cindy shares a common experience with many of Central Carolina's students: She returned to school as an adult, the mother of two children. She earned an associate degree from Clinton Community College and went on to obtain a B.A. from the State University of New York (SUNY) in workforce administration with minors in human resource management and supply chain management. Cindy's kids are both in college now, a son who will soon graduate and a daughter who is preparing for a career in medicine.
Cindy has fallen in love with North Carolina. She delights in the mild winter she is experiencing and the house she was able to find in Sanford. "I can get anywhere from here in no time at all," she said.
