CCCC 2009 Annual Career Fair Filled With Job Seekers
The college, under the leadership of the Career Services Office, hosted a Career Fair in the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center Wednesday, March 18. Tanasha Murchison (right), Human Resources Department Administrative Assistant, and Crystal Smith, Marketing and Public Affairs Department Graphics Designer, manned the CCCC table. During the event, Jon Matthews (left), Business Technologies Chairman, stopped by to say "hello." Many thanks to Gina Del Vecchio, Career Services Coordinator; David Oakes, Assessment/Special Populations Director; Mike Neal, Student Activities Director; Jim Felton, Civic Center/SBC director; and his staff; Randy Brewer, Civic Center Maintenance Supervisor, and his staff; and all the others at the college - as well as to the 47 employers who had tables. Carol Bradford, retired Chatham County Campus Admissions Counselor, was also present, volunteering for the fair. All made this event a great success. More than 350 attended, mostly students but also some community members looking for job opportunities. NBC-17 came and shot some footage, which was shown on its news program Wednesday evening.
WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND CCCC
New Bookstore Flooring
The Lee County Campus Bookstore was closed last week so the old carpeting could be removed and a new vinyl wood-grain plank floor installed. Nancy Shue, Bookstore Manager, and Darlene Dark (right), Assistant Bookstore Manager, said the new flooring is easier to maintain, doesn't generate dust as the carpeting did, and makes the Bookstore brighter. They invite everyone to come and see the new addition. One who has already done so is Barrett McGehee (left), Network Communications Specialist.

Cougar Profile
Pamela Wells
Dental Hygiene Instructor, Lee Dental Center
Pamela Wells always knew she wanted to be part of the CCCC family. While she was in graduate school at UNC-CH, Pamela toured CCCC's new dental facility and fell in love with the beautiful campus. It was at this moment, she knew she wanted to teach in the CCCC dental hygiene program.
Pamela has a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from UNC-CH and a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene Education from UNC-CH. Before coming to CCCC, Pamela practiced dental hygiene in the Sandhills area. She then went on to get her Masters, and has worked with CCCC since August 2008. When asked what is the best part of working for CCCC, Pamela has several answers.
"I love being in the classroom and clinic," she said. "The students are the BEST! I also love the family atmosphere at CCCC. All of the employees have been so welcoming."
A Southport, NC, native, it is no surprise that Pamela loves the coast. One of her favorite activities is in-shore salt-water fishing. "I love to fish. In the summer time I like to spend as much time possible at the beach on the boat," Pamela said.
Working as a dental hygienist brought her to Southern Pines, where she loves the area. She has resided in Carthage since 2002.
