Steve Lympany is Department Chair for Engineering and Computer Information Technologies at Central Carolina Community College (CCCC). He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MA in Liberal Studies from North Carolina State University. His industrial experience includes positions with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory, GTE Laboratories, ITT Telecommunications and Siecor Corporation. Since 1986 he has been with CCCC, where he teaches courses in electronics, optics, and computers. He is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education, the American Technical Education Association (ATEA) and is a former Chairman of the Piedmont Optical Task Force. Along with his wife, Laurie, Steve plays guitar and hammered dulcimer with the traditional music group BLYS (pronounced "bliss"), based out of Fuquay-Varina.
