10 Graduate CCCC Detention Officer School

Click to enlarge,  Ten law enforcement officers from the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, Harnett County Sheriff's Office and Lee County Sheriff's Office have completed training for and passed a state examination to receive their certification as Detention Officers. The officers graduated Sept. 3 from the Detention Officer School at Central Carolina Community College's  Emergency Services Training Center, in Sanford. The 172-hour Detention Officer course, mandated by the North Carolina Sheriff's Education and Training Standards Commission, is comprised of 22 instructional blocks. It includes topics such as Legal Aspects, Contraband Searches, Medical Care, Fire Emergencies, Suicide, and Aspects of Mental Illness. The students achieved a 91.4 percent class average on the final state certification exam.
