Laser and fiber optics technology education became hands-on as middle school students from Harnett, Lee and Alamance counties took part in a workshop at Central Carolina Community College’s Harnett County Campus in Lillington. The Nov. 1 ‘High Tech—High Touch’ workshop involved the students, with a parent or adult mentor, in fun and informative technology activities. Students taking part were (not shown in order): Natalie Wakefield and Tyler Boggs, of Lillington; William Tucker, Danny Karrs and Samuel Guevara, of Sanford; Shane Bryant, of Fuquay-Varina; Dalton Baggett and Allyson Butler, of Dunn; Tyler Parker, of Angier; Jacob Donathan, of Cameron; and Joshua Shepard, of Snow Camp. The workshop was taught by Gary Beasley, lead instructor, and some of the college’s Laser and Photonics Technology students.
