‘High tech-high touch’ fun at CCCC
11.05.2008 • College & Community
Laser and fiber optics technology education became hands-on as middle school students from Harnett, Lee and Alamance counties took part in a workshop at Central Carolina Community College’s Harnett County Campus in Lillington. The Nov. 1 ‘High Tech—High Touch’ workshop involved the students, with a parent or adult mentor, in fun and informative technology activities. Students taking part were (not shown in order): Natalie Wakefield and Tyler Boggs, of Lillington; William Tucker, Danny Karrs and Samuel Guevara, of Sanford; Shane Bryant, of Fuquay-Varina; Dalton Baggett and Allyson Butler, of Dunn; Tyler Parker, of Angier; Jacob Donathan, of Cameron; and Joshua Shepard, of Snow Camp. The workshop was taught by Gary Beasley, lead instructor, and some of the college’s Laser and Photonics Technology students. For more information about the LPT program and careers, or future workshops, contact Beasley at (910) 814-8828 or gbeasley@cccc.edu.
