CCCC hosts workshop for dental professionals

SANFORD – “Methamphetamine Abuse and Meth Mouth” will be the topic of a workshop for dental professionals to be held 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center, 1801 Nash St., Sanford.
The workshop is sponsored by Central Carolina Community College’s Continuing Education Department, in Lee County. Those attending the workshop will receive two CEU credits.
Dr. James Clare, a dentist and UNC Chapel Hill School of Dentistry graduate, will be the presenter. The workshop will cover the history, progression, and negative effects of methamphetamine abuse.
Interviews with individuals who have been addicted to meth and how this drug has transformed their lives will be part of the presentation. The workshop will also cover how meth use affects the oral cavity, what signs to look for, and treatment options.
