CCCC Foundation Golf Classic tees off to success

SANFORD - The 22nd Annual Central Carolina Community College Foundation Golf Classic teed off Sept. 21, with 172 golfers, making the 2011 tourney the best one to date.

The Golf Classic, held at the Sanford Golf Course, raised $40,000 for student scholarships and award programs that advance the mission of the college. Teams participated in Captain's Choice tournaments in either the morning or afternoon.

"The 22nd Annual Golf Classic was a tremendous success," said Phil Bradley, chair of the foundation's golf committee. "A big thank-you goes out to each sponsor and player who participated this year. It is because of you that we are able to make a difference in the educational lives of students from the area. CCCC is such a vital part of our community and it feels great to know that we can make an impact on these students."

Mark your calendars now for next year's 23rd Annual Golf Classic, which will be held in mid-September 2012.

Morning round:

First Flight

  • First Place - Charles Mellette, Joe McCoy, Robert Reives and Linel Williams, sponsored by Wilson and Reives of Sanford.
  • Second Place (tie) - Joffree Bradley, Phil Bradley, Ronny Jenkins and Matthew Smith, sponsored by Sears of Sanford; and Gary Adcock, Travis Bailey, Tim Goodwin and Harold Lassiter, sponsored by First Bank of Lillington.

Second Flight

The CCCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, the college. It receives donations of money and equipment on behalf of CCCC and uses them to promote the educational mission of the college and assist students through scholarships and grants.
