SANFORD — Central Carolina Community Collegernhonored its outstanding graduating curriculum students during its 16thrnAnnual Academic Excellence Awards night May 4 at the Dennis A. Wicker CivicrnCenter.
Seventy-two students were honored. Three ofrnthem: Muhammed Khan, Shakeel Harris, and Monique Pardoe, are students at LeernEarly College, an educational institution on the college’s Lee County Campus.rnLEC students enroll as Lee County Schools ninth graders, advance torncollege-level courses and, within five years, earn both a high school diplomarnand an associate degree.
Award plaques presented at the awards night includedrnAcademic Excellence and Outstanding Student within curriculum programs, “GreatrnWithin the 58” North Carolina Community College System recognition, Who’s WhornAmong Students in America’s Junior Colleges, Outstanding Ambassador Service,rnand others.
To receive an Academic Excellence Award, arnstudent had to have an overall grade point average of 3.75 or higher out of arnpossible 4.0. To receive an Outstanding Student Award, a 3.75 GPA was notrnrequired, but the students had demonstrated excellence in other ways.
