Central Carolina Community College's Dr. Sara Newcomb, Executive Director of Secondary Partnerships, and Dr. Kristi Short, Vice President / Chief Academic Officer, recently participated in a skydiving adventure.

The two were among representatives from North Carolina community colleges to participate as tandem skydivers with the U.S. Army's Golden Knights at the Golden Knights' Practice Center in Maxton, N.C.

Both Dr. Newcomb and Dr. Short expressed their gratitude for the opportunity - and shared their excitement about the adventure.

"Skydiving is something that has always interested me, and I got my first chance to jump in 2021. This was actually my second chance to jump, and to be able to do it with the U.S. Army Golden Knights team was something I could not miss," said Dr. Newcomb. "I am so grateful and honored I was chosen to do this, and I highly recommend it to everyone who gets a chance."

"I'm grateful to the North Carolina Community College System for providing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Dr. Short. "I had a blast, and it was such a treat to share this thrilling and memorable experience with Sara. I'd also like to thank the U.S. Army Golden Knights for their professionalism and service to our country. I'll fondly remember this incredible day!"
