SANFORD, N.C. - Vicky Wesner, Central Carolina Community College Dental Hygiene and Assisting Department Chair, is the 2023-2024 CCCC Faculty Member of the Year.

"I have been so blessed over the years to work with such an amazing team of faculty whose primary commitment has been to provide a meaningful and worthwhile education to their students," said Wesner. "I also thank the college for providing our department with all the tools and equipment necessary to help our students become successful dental professionals. CCCC is an amazing educational institution and I feel so blessed to be a part of the CCCC team."

CCCC President Dr. Lisa M. Chapman says of Wesner: "Vicky is a long-term employee of the college who emulates what we mean when we speak about 'Serving the CCCC Way'. Her team knows they are valued and appreciated as members of the college family. That support enhances their ability to provide the best possible learning experience for our dental hygiene and dental assistant students. I have so enjoyed watching Vicky develop, both as a passionate instructor and a passionate leader, over the years and am so pleased to see her efforts acknowledged by her peers."

Dr. Kristi Short, CCCC's Vice President/Chief Academic Officer, said of Wesner, "Vicky teaches in a highly-structured, coordinated program where everyone works together to support students. She sets the tone and expectations for the department, which has seen remarkable success in recent years. She creates a fun environment for students, faculty, and staff and is known for being kind, welcoming, and trustworthy. One of her nominators described her as calm like still waters on a sunny day. Vicky sees students as more than numbers on the roster and consistently supports their overall health and wellbeing."

Ms. Wesner, who began her CCCC career in 2007, has earned degrees from Fayetteville Technical Community College (Dental Hygiene, 2000) and from N.C. State University (Bachelor's degree in Zoology in 1992 and Master's degree in Adult and Community College Education in 2011).
