LILLINGTON - The Central Carolina Community College SPIE Student Chapter will host an "Interviewing Skills Panel" on Monday, March 18, in the Miriello Building (Multi-Purpose Room 135) at the CCCC Harnett Main Campus, 1075 E. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Lillington.

The panel will discuss successful interviewing skills, including preparation, interview questions and answering, and post-interview etiquette. The discussion and question and answer session, which are open to the public, will be held from noon to 2 p.m.

The panel is comprised of second-year students of the CCCC Laser and Photonics Technologies program, industry partners from the Laser program's Advisory Committee, and representatives from the CCCC Career Center. Starting in the spring of 2017, this is the third annual "Interviewing Skills Panel" event hosted by the SPIE Student Chapter Laser Club. For the upcoming Laser program event, graduates have interviewed, and accepted offers, with companies in Research Triangle Park, California, Illinois, and South Carolina, and will share their experiences on how to successfully navigate the interview process to secure employment. Advisory Committee members will share their experiences from the perspective of a hiring manager, covering topics such as research required prior to the interview, how to make a good first impression, what questions a candidate should be prepared to answer, and what to expect and what to do after the interview is over. Career Center representatives will offer their expertise in job search strategies and interview preparation resources.

SPIE is an international society promoting an interdisciplinary approach to the science and application of light. Skylar Overby, who is CCCC SPIE Student Chapter President, will serve as moderator of the event.
