SANFORD – Derrick R. Wright, Computer Information Technology instructor  at Central Carolina Community College, has been invited to address students at Yonsei University, Seoul, South Korea. The topic of the Oct. 28 presentation will be “Technology and Ethics.”

Wright, who has been a technical consultant to corporations such as IBM and Boeing, has an extensive background, not only in technology, but also in ethics. He has lectured in ethics, privacy and security over the course of 15 years at Mercer University.

“This will be an important forum for academic discourse and professional development,” Wright said. “It certainly brings even more distinction and added recognition to Central Carolina Community College to have one of its own invited to address a class at such an historic institution. I welcome this opportunity to discuss the relationship between technology and ethics.”

Merthella H. Wright, Wright’s wife, has been invited by the university to deliver a speech addressing aspects of culture as part of a planned cultural exchange event. She is the corporate quality assurance manager, as well as Atlanta plant manager, for ParexLahabra, Inc., a French company.

A full program of academic collaboration and cultural interaction is planned during the week the Wrights are at the university.

Yonsei University, established in 1885 by Christian missionaries, is the oldest private university in Korea. It boasts 3,500 faculty members and 28,000 students in 18 graduate schools, 17 colleges, and 132 subsidiary institutions.  It hosts, what it terms, “the most selective pool of students from around the world.”
