Literary magazine seeks submissions

11.16.2004 • Admin, Faculty & Staff, Arts & Entertainment, Curriculum Programs

Sanford, NC - The literary magazine of Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), Red Clay Review, is now accepting poetry and prose submissions from residents in the college service area. Residents of Chatham, Harnett and Lee counties, current or former students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to submit writing for consideration between now and February 1. The magazine's inaugural issue will be available the beginning of April.

" We are looking for interesting and unique voices in fiction, nonfiction, and poetry," says member of the editorial board Hillary Hall, CCCC English Instructor.

The new literary magazine seeks to publish a variety of voices from those both within and around the college itself. Instructors who have wanted to encourage students' writing and publishing of unique or interesting prose pieces are excited to have this opportunity to get their students' voices and views out into the community. People who may have kept journal entries or poems to themselves may find a local magazine receptive to their literary expressions.

Submission guidelines for the Red Clay Review include prose submissions limited to 1,500 words typed and double spaced; poetry is limited to 3 submissions; the name, address, phone number, and approximate word count should be in the upper left of the first page of each submission; electronic submissions are preferred, but are not required.

To submit your prose or poetry contact Joy Hewett (jhewett@cccc.edu) in Chatham County; contact Deborah Doolittle (ddoolittle@cccc.edu) in Harnett County; and Lars Hamilton (lhamilton@cccc.edu) in Lee County.

For more information, contact Ty Stumpf (919-718-9242) or Dean Roughton (910-893-9101, extension 253)
