The 3M Corporation, through its 3Mgives Community Giving Grant program, has awarded Central Carolina Community College's Industry Services Office a $5,000 grant. Holding a giant mock-up of the grant award check are (from left) Celia Hurley, CCCC vice president of Institutional Advancement; Marsha Mebane, Human Resources manager at 3M's Pittsboro and Sanford plants, who wrote the grant request; Cathy Swindell, CCCC Industry Services director; and Emily Hare, CCCC Foundation and Development director. The grant will be used to purchase technology or equipment for the college’s Industry Training Center located at the Innovation Center in the Lee County Industrial Park. The Industry Training Center provides workforce training for area companies. It also provides part of the training for the Caterpillar Youth Apprenticeship Program in welding, which enrolls students from Lee and Southern Lee high schools. For more information about training offered at the Innovation Center, contact Cathy Swindell at 919-718-7212 or by email at cswindell@cccc.edu. The Foundation receives donations on behalf of the college and uses them to promote its educational mission. For information about the Foundation, visit www.cccc.edu/foundation.
