Employers, CCCC students meet at Career Fair

Tonia Jones (left), of Angier, and David Saldy, of Erwin, Medical Office Administration students at Central Carolina Community College, visited the college's March 13 Career Fair at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center to speak with some of the approximately 70 employer vendors who participated. Johnston Animal Hospital office manager Valerie Price (center) and Registered Veterinary Technician Ashley Worley spoke with them about the variety of positions the hospital has. Worley is a 2010 graduate of CCCC. The Career Fair was sponsored by the college's Career Center. Central Carolina Community College student Porsha Cooke (right), of Sanford, speaks with Liberty HomeCare and Hospice representative Emily Petty, of Siler City, about opportunities for employment with the company. Cooke will graduate in May with an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Office Administration. Petty graduated from CCCC in 2012, also with an A.A.S. in Medical Office Administration. About 70 businesses, organizations, and government agencies came to Central Carolina Community College's March 13 Career Fair at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center to talk to CCCC students about their companies and to recruit new employees. Some recruiters from four-year educational institutions also came to tell the students what opportunities they offer CCCC graduates. Among them was Fort Hays State University recruiter Dr. Ron Plummer (left), speaking with Lee Early College students (from second left) Austin Dowdy, Nicky Quinones and David Delacruz about what Fort Hays offers. Lee Early College is a collaboration of Lee County Schools and Central Carolina Community College. A student can earn both a high school diploma and an associate degree within five years.
