Army veteran Maurice Wilson (right), of Sanford, is learning more from Central Carolina Community College TRIO Programs director Gerri Williams about how a Veterans Upward Bound program can help him achieve his goal of a degree in industrial maintenance. The college received a five-year, $1.23 million VUB grant from the U.S. Department of Education to increase college attendance and success among veterans residing in Chatham, Harnett, Johnston, Lee and Wake counties.
