CCCC's Thomas honored by HCI's Community Resource Council

Daniel Thomas, Central Carolina Community College's director of Correctional Educational at Harnett Correctional Institution, has been honored by the HCI's Community Resource Council with its Everett Pannie Smith Memorial Award. The award is presented annually to the "Outstanding Volunteer of the Year" for the previous year. The presentation was made April 24 at HCI. Thomas has been with the college for 30 years, all at HCI. He started as a math instructor and has been education director since 2003. Thomas was recognized for outstanding volunteer work with the CRC, serving in all the leadership positions, including chair. The CRC provides outreach to the community, recruits volunteers for a variety of events at HCI, promotes positive programming for inmates, and recognizes superior efforts by HCI employees.
