LEC student wins VFW Award

Lee Early College senior Hannah Cowfer (center) was honored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars March 30 for her winning essay in the organization's Voice of Democracy essay competition. The topic was, 'Is there pride in serving in our military?' Cowfer won at both the local and district levels and was runner-up at the state level. Pictured (from left) are Central Carolina Community College Executive Vice President of Instruction Dr. Lisa Chapman, VFW Quartermaster Otis Weaver, Cowfer, VFW Commander Anthony Hall, and LEC Principal Robert Biehl. LEC is a collaboration of CCCC and Lee County Schools and is located at the college's Lee County Campus.
