Central Carolina Community College is celebrating its 50th anniversary during the 2011-2012 academic year. Dr. Marvin R. Joyner served as its dynamic president for 21 of those years, 1983-2004. Many of the college's facilities were built during his tenure. The college's Vocational Building, built in 1987 at the Lee County Campus, was renamed Marvin R. Joyner Hall in his honor in 2005.
