Central Carolina Community College’s Emergency Services Training Center live fire instructor Frankie Hobson checks on the progress of a fire at the facility’s live fire-training building. The ESTC has been offering part-time training to firefighters since 1964. As of Jan. 18, the ESTC marks a new milestone with the opening of the college’s Firefighter Academy. The Academy will be a full-time program, preparing people to become state-certified firefighters. For more information on CCCC’s Firefighter Academy, contact Joey Shue, Fire and Rescue Training coordinator, at (919) 777-7778; stop by the ESTC, 3000 Airport Road, Sanford; or visit: www.cccc.edu/ecd/departments/emergencyservices/fire.php
