Just-retired Central Carolina Community College President Matt Garrett (standing) and his successor, President Bud Marchant III, share a light moment Aug. 19, as Garrett symbolically welcomes Marchant to the president's chair that Garrett occupied for the past four years. Marchant assumed the presidency on Aug. 15. Garrett's official retirement date is Sept. 1, but he has stepped down from the presidency to be available to assist Dr. Marchant during the transition period for the new president and the college. Marchant is the college's fifth president in its 47-year history.
