Visitors to the Celebrate Green Central 2010 event Oct. 15-16 at Central Carolina Community College’s Chatham County Campus enjoyed watching Hilary Heckler, manager of the campus’s student farm, toss pizza crusts. The crusts were then covered with organically grown arugula from the farm, pesto and other toppings and baked in the farm’s oven. The farm is part of the college’s sustainable agriculture program. The Celebrate Green Central event featured displays by green building and energy efficiency vendors, a green home tour, and overviews of the college’s green programs, including the new Natural Chef culinary arts program.
