Glenn Shearin (right), machining, tool and die instructor at Central Carolina Community College’s Lee County Campus, enjoys a laugh with visiting Lee County Schools students. The students are members of the school district’s Graduation Express, a program involving high school students, called Graduation Ambassadors, and elementary students, known as Future Graduates. The high school students mentor the younger ones to encourage them to complete high school and look forward to higher education. The students visited the college on May 27 to learn about some of the programs it offers and possible careers in those fields. Shearin spoke to the students about machining technology. The students also visited and learned about industrial systems, electronics engineering, and radio & television broadcasting programs as pathways to possible future careers.
