Human Resources Development

Are you unemployed or under-employed?

Do you need basic skills for job-hunting, such as resume writing, using computers, and job interviewing?

Do you want to explore career options?

Do you need a certificate showing employers that you have certified basic skills useable in all careers?

Then Human Resources Development (HRD) through Central Carolina Community College's Continuing Education Department has what you need.

HRD is all about gaining basic skills to be successful in the workplace.

Courses are specifically designed to meet the needs of:

  • those entering the workforce for the first time
  • dislocated workers or those out-of-school
  • under-employed workers seeking skill upgrades

Fees for classes may be waived for adults who are unemployed, being laid off, working and eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit, or earning wages at or below twice the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Career Readiness Certificate

HRD is the place to obtain a North Carolina Career Readiness Certificate. The CRC complements a high school diploma, GED, or college degree by certifying skill levels in Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and/or Locating Information. These are core skill areas for every occupation. To receive a CRC, individuals take the WorkKeys CRC assessments. Each assessment is $10. Based on their scores, they can receive a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Level certificate, with Gold being the highest.

Employers use the certificate, with other education and background information, to make employment and training decisions. Higher scores indicate that a person has skills for a greater range of jobs.
