Training

Unless otherwise indicated, most classes are available online or one-on-one; however, if you have a group needing to be trained, you may request these courses be offered as hybrid or seated.

We schedule seated and hybrid trainings throughout the year and announce these classes below.

Blackboard Fundamentals
10 staff development hours
This training is designed to get you acquainted with the fundamentals of using Blackboard, CCCC's online course management system. This training will provide you with step-by-step tutorials and exercises to prepare you for developing and teaching your first online course and becoming Blackboard Proficient.
Blackboard Supplement Training
2 staff development hours
This training is designed to give you an introduction to the basic components of Blackboard, CCCC's online course management system. This training will provide you with step-by-step tutorials and exercises to prepare you for creating a Supplement Course to use as a resource for your seated classes.
SAS Curriculum Pathways
2 staff development hours
This training takes you on a scavenger hunt through SAS Curriculum Pathways. Along the way you will be introduced to great interactive web-based lessons that are only a few clicks away from you and your students.
Blog Tool
2 staff development hours
This training is designed to get you acquainted with the new Blog tool and how it can be incorporated into a Blackboard course site. Some examples include discussions and journals.
Wiki Tool
2 staff development hours
This training is designed to get you acquainted with the new Wiki tool and how it can be incorporated into a Blackboard course site. Some examples include group projects and class webpages.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Training
8 staff development hours
This training is designed to get you acquainted with the American with Disabilities Act and provide you with practical and easy ways to apply ADA-friendly design standards to your Blackboard course sites. This training also could be subtitled "Universal Design for Learning" in that its recommendations enhance the learning experience for all students not just those with documented accommodations. You'll learn about fonts, sizes, colors, graphics, documents, and tags that that your courses are designed and facilitated that all students can be successful.
TEACH Act and Fair Use Training
3 staff development hours
This training is designed to get you acquainted with the guidelines for the Technology, Education, and Copyright Harmonization (TEACH) Act and the criteria of the Fair Use exemption so you can confidently (and legally!) provide online students with course materials comparable to those you provide in your traditional seated course site.
Hybrid Development Training
8 staff development hours
This training is designed to help instructors, staff, and administrators gain exposure to the challenges and rewards of hybrid instruction. This training course also seeks to equip participants with the information and encouragement to design, implement, and support hybrid courses.
3-in-1 Training
1 staff development hour
This training is designed to give you a crash course on three of our media-enriched trainings in a one hour session. This training consists of a 20 minute overview of our Discovery Education, Blog, and SAS Curriculum Pathways trainings.
NC-LOR/Equella: NCCCS Teaching Repository
2 staff development hours
The North Carolina Learning Objects Repository (NCLOR) is an online collection of more than 12,000 free learning and professional development resources that can be easily linked in Blackboard course sites. NCLOR content can be used for face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes. These resources can be streaming videos, lab simulations, web inquiries, or other media-enriched content like SAS Curriculum Pathways, Softchalk lessons, or Camtasia presentations. They've been made by other faculty members and are peer-reviewed and ready for you to use. As a North Carolina Community College faculty member, you have the highest access to the resources in the NCLOR. This online training is self-paced and will take approximately one hour to complete.
